A Brief Preface to Maspalomas Gay Pride
Maspalomas Gay Pride is one of Spain’s most significant and most celebrated gay events, with tens of thousands of tourists flocking to the Gran Canaria each Spring.
It was first held in 2001 when the City Council of San Bartolome de Tirajana and a few Yumbo Center entrepreneurs joined forces to form the most significant gay event on the island. Since then, it has grown exponentially, drawing an estimated 100,000 visitors yearly.

By celebrating an incredible Pride annually and supporting the local LGBTQ culture of Gran Canaria throughout the year, this Pride seeks to boost respect and recognition for the LGBTQ community and eliminate any form of stigma or judgment.
Therefore, Gay Pride Maspalomas continues to be a beacon for LGBTQ rights and is the biggest supporter against discrimination and violence against the LGBT+ community.
