In this article, we will reveal some of the best gay beaches in Mykonos based on our opinions. We agree that everybody has his preferences. That’s why the best beach for us isn’t necessarily the best for you. Therefore, we have selected a few different beaches; you only have to pick your favorite.
It is a large sandy beach located 12km from the capital. More importantly, this is Mykonos’ longest sand beach. It is thoroughly organized, offering many facilities, from taverns and bars to water sports facilities such as water-skiing, parasailing, and windsurfing.
What many may enjoy the most is the beach is less crowded than others. In particular, it is more peaceful than Paradise and Super Paradise.
But that’s not all. Namely, there is more great news ahead! Elia is not only the most popular and largest beach on the island of Mykonos but also the most popular gay beach on the island. The further to the end of the beach you go, the gayer it becomes!
You can read more about Elia Beach in our article.
The beach is located next to Paradise Beach and is reachable by taxi boat (regular boat services are available from Platis Yialos) and local bus. Above all, it is regarded as one of the most beautiful beaches in Greece.
Although it may be less organized than the neighboring Paradise Beach, it is more beautiful. Furthermore, Super Paradise used to be the most famous LGBTQ beach in Greece. However, it has lost this title to Elia Beach in recent years. Due to its popularity, Super Paradise Beach can get very crowded during peak season.
We know that all-night partying isn’t everybody’s cup of tea. That’s why we’ve added more tranquil beaches for people who enjoy their holiday away from the crowds. Let’s check them out.
Perhaps this should be number one on the list. Let’s see why? But first, let’s introduce it to you. Agrari and Elia are near each other, forming a vast sandy beach 8 kilometers from the island’s capital. Agrari Beach is less famous than its neighbor Elia and much calmer. They both can be reached by local bus and by taxi-boat.
As with many beaches, you approach from high and down a long, thin, steep road. There is a small cafeteria and two sets of beach loungers with shades. There are many nudists on this beach. You can walk over the rocks to the left to visit Elia Beach from this beach.
Paraga Beach combines two sandy beaches separated by a headland, forming a large beach. The southern coast is calmer, while the northern one is fully organized and lined with many taverns playing music. Paranga Beach can be reached by bus, a 15-minute walk from Platis Yialos, or by frequent taxi boats going to Super Paradise Beach.
Kalafatis is known for its water sports. This is very much an active beach. In the left corner of the coast of Kalafatis, one can find a hut with hire facilities from a snorkel to diving. There is also a windsurf center, where you can rent a board by the hour, and a watersports center for a jet-ski.
Panormos is the only gay beach in Mykonos, not in the island’s south. It is located 7km north of the main town. The public bus recently started coming here, increasing interest in Panormos Beach. We found that the straight crowds and families tend to stick to the entrance side of Panormos, where all the umbrellas and sunbeds are. If you continue heading to the far end of this beach, it gets utterly remote with lots of nudism.
