The breathtaking beach of Mikri Vigla on Naxos Island is 12 kilometers away from the capital. It consists of two enchanting sandy beaches with incredible blue seawater, separated by an impressive hill.
The northern part is lovely, with soft golden sand and crystalline turquoise waters. It is also pretty windy, which makes it ideal for windsurfing and kitesurfing.
The southern part (on the other side of the hill) is an endless sandy beach (also called Sahara or Limanakia) with incredible crystal waters. Since it is shielded from the Meltemi winds, we recommend it for family holidays.
If you like good food, the area’s several taverns, with average prices, will please you. They offer excellent local cuisine, and some even have a fantastic sea view.
To many tourists, a swim to Mikri Vigla is an all-day event, combined with lunch, coffee, and sometimes an additional afternoon swim. It is an organized beach with umbrellas and sunbeds for rent. However, there are few, so it is best to carry your own during the high season.
How to reach the beach
Buses are regular, especially during the high season (click here to see the schedule). It is the most common way to get to Mikri Vigla Beach. There are many parking places, and the beach is less crowded than Agios Prokopios, so driving a car is also a good option.
