The list of our favorite gay couples from the Elite TV series

The Elite series (Netflix) has changed how LGBTQ+ relationships are shown in stories. It offers deep, complex characters and often includes intense emotions and tragedy.

When we “think” about the “best” couples, we usually consider their impact, emotional depth, and how long they are present in the story.

Here are my top three LGBTQ+ couples from the series, ranked by their importance to the story and how fans received them:

Omar and Ander (“Omander”)

“Omander” is the emotional center of the first four seasons. Their relationship was celebrated because it focused on a deep love that faced real challenges rather than scandal. They first struggled with identity and acceptance—Ander hid his sexuality from his conservative father. At the same time, Omar dealt with his identity within his family’s traditional Muslim expectations. Family’s 3, Ander’s intense depression, and Ander’s diagnosis forced them to confront their mortality and commitment more seriously than other couples did, showing that their love went beyond high school drama. They set the standard for a committed, long-term relationship on the show, even if their ending was complex and painful. They served as a consistent source of light and genuine emotion amid the chaos at Las Encinas.

They are seen as the show’s most lasting and notable couple, spanning four seasons. Their dynamic is shown in “opposites attract”—the wealthy, reserved tennis star (Ander) and the working-class, gay Muslim drug dealer (Omar). Their relationship faced many challenges, including Omar’s family, Ander’s cancer, and later, infidelity with Patrick. Still, their journey of intense Ander’sliation showed a strong and magnetic bond.

Iván and Patrick

While Omander was about stability and maturity, Iván and Patrick were pure, passionate toxicity, and fans couldn’t get enough of it. Their on-screen energy was arguably the most visceral and immediate of the latter couples. Their dynamic was defined by intense, hedonistic desire. They were the central engine of the show’s drama from Season 5 onward. The passion and subsequent toxicity between them were key to the major plots involving Cshow’soel, and Iván’s climactic accident. They proved that love in the Elite universe is often a beautiful, destructive mess. Their relatiIván’s was constantly challenged by external forces (Cruz, Joel) and their own internal flaws: Patrick’s impulsive chaos and Iván’s deep-seated trauma and need for control.

Rebeca and Mencía (“RebeNcia”)

Mencía and Rebe share a complex LGBTQ+ relationship that connects with the show’s themes. Rebe is loyal to Mencía, supporting her even when Mencía makes harmful choices like sex work and getting involved with Armando. Their relationship highlights class differences. Rebe comes from a wealthy background and deals with her mother’s crimes, while Mencía faces exploitation and family manipulation. Their love feels intense as they fight against the forces of money and crime.

This relationship is the show’s most popular female same-sex pairing. Rebeca’s grounded personality contrasts with Mencía’s chaotic energy: their show’s trust, communication, and class, Rebeca’s love.

Other couples

We categorized the couples based on their importance and longevity. The top couples (Omander, Iván/Patrick, Mebeka) matter more in the story than the secondary ones.

Secondary couples often only last for one season and are connected to the central mystery, like Joel’s death or Cruz’s confession. Their purpose is defined by the main plot they support, such as obsession, rebound relationships, or taboo hookups. Joel’s relationships often feel unstable or toxic. You may find yourself hoping they end because they can harm others.

Iván and Joel

This relationship was the next chapter for Iván after Patrick and introduced Joel to a wealthy and risky world. Iván and Joel had a caring connection, especially as Iván healed from past trauma. Joel brought stability and kindness, helping Iván feel vulnerable. However, their relationship struggled because of Omar. Joel’s ongoing bond with Omar, along with Iván’s unresolved feelings for Patrick, stopped them from having a healthy relationship. Their chemistry wasn’t forced and was affected by the OIván’sán situation. Joel seemed to be defined by who he dated, whether it was Omar, Iván, or Héctor, which made him a less interesting character. Their story mainly served to Iván’sss Iván’s and Omar’s plots instead of their own. Additionally, Omar was not a believable barrier in the love triangle, which made the season’s romance weaker.

Héctor and Joel

The Predatory Obsession is not a romantic relationship but a way to introduce the villain Héctor and show how vulnerable scholarship student Joel is. Héctor represents the entitled and obsessive traits of the elite. Their interactions are intriguing on the surface but toxic and one-sided, resembling harassment more than love. Unlike other couples like “Omander,” “Iván/Patrick,” and “Mebeka,” who have emotional connections, Héctor and Joel’s dynamic shows a powerful essence. This makes their relationship effective for the plot but unsustainable as a favorite among fans.

Patrick and Cruz

The Taboo, Power-Dynamic Hookup was a brief relationship that highlighted the trauma between a father and son while also exploring Cruz’s closeted sexuality. This relationship caused family conflict and sexual tension in Season 5. It pushed Cruz to confront his identity and forced Patrick to face the consequences of his reckless behavior. Although both were consenting adults, the age difference and the fact that Cruz was Iván’s father made the relationship feel exploitative. This was not a love story; it was a crisis driven by impulse and personal issues, lacking a real emotional connection.

The Enduring Legacy of Las Encinas Love

Omar and Ander (Omander), Iván and Patrick, and Mencía and Rebeka (Mebeka) are our favorite gay couples in the Elite TV series because they have deep stories and strong emotions across several seasons. These couples go beyond simple drama to explore acceptance, internal struggles, and the search for happiness, engaging the audience. In contrast, later relationships often serve specific plot points rather than add emotional depth. This makes these three couples essential to the show’s main story.
