About Scenic Procida island
Procida, a tiny isle in the Bay of Naples, was named Italy’s Capital of Culture for 2022, beating nine other candidates and becoming the first island ever awarded the title.
Around 4 square km, the island has mostly flown under the radar, overshadowed by its more famous siblings (Capri and Ischia). This is all despite its big-screen moments. Procida has served as the set of The Talented Mr. Ripley and Il Postino.
What to see and do
Marina Corricella
Characteristic, evocative, and romantic, Marina Corricella is Procida’s most ancient fishing village. Arranged as a theater on the sea and surrounded by the nets on the dock, this fishing village is a quiet and seductive haven for those who favor relaxing holidays. The smell of the sea, the characteristic narrow lanes, the unusual architecture, and the total absence of vehicles make Corricella a world apart.
Tip: Finally, an obligatory stop for gastronomic and cinematographic tourism lovers is the Bar Graziella, a set of numerous cinematographic productions (il Postino, Talented Mr. Ripley).

Casale Vascello
Casale Vascello is an antique fortified village at Terra Murata’s foot. The settlement was built in the 16th century after the Saracen invasions.
Furthermore, here you’ll find two entrances at Via Principe Margherita and Via Salita Castello, once capable of closing off the town to the raiders. Still inhabited and undeniably picturesque, the village features a central courtyard framed by brightly colored terraced buildings with quirky arched windows.

Terra Murata
The fortified center of Terra Murata is a place of outer beauty built on the island’s highest point. In dangerous times, when Saracens and the pirates were invading the island, it was the island’s main center. Furthermore, this part contains history, anecdotes, and cultural sites. What’s more, there are the top spots to shoot some of the best Instagram pictures.
Beaches and nature
Among Procida’smost scenic beaches are Pozzo Vecchio; Spiaggia Chiaia, to the east, which overlooks Ischia and features clear, shallow waters and a backdrop of rocky cliffs (plus the excellent seafood restaurant La Conchiglia); and Ciraccio, the longest and most secluded.
Il Postino Beach: One of Procida’s most beautiful beaches is undoubtedly Pozzo Vecchio Beach, on the island’s western side. Also known as the Spiaggia del Postino (Postman’s Beach), it was here that one of the most intense scenes of the famous 1994 film was shot, the one in which Mario (Massimo Troisi) and the beautiful Beatrice (Mariagrazia Cucinotta) meet and fall in love for the first time.
So, watch The Talented Mr. Ripley and Il Postino before you go.
Eat, drink, and relax.
Naturally, traditional cuisine with fish in the forefront is served by the island’s small restaurants and trattorias, often managed by fishermen. Dishes on the menu also include lemon salad, a fresh recipe with poor origins, which you can try to prepare yourselves, starting with picking lemons in the island’s groves.
